CLUBBING WAR BOOTS - SCULPTED DANCING SHOES

Updated: Jan 29, 2023

The designated club shoes have been through the depths of hell, for 6-hour dance/ rave sessions once a week (or everyday) for the average uni students. Capturing movement was utterly crucial when planning this piece. I sculpted these shoes mid foot twist to look as though the owner had just frozen and jumped out of their docs.

Linking to the conceptual references of counterculture, I linked the design to the trends of individual customisation through shoes. The white tippex, roughly scribbled around the edges of the shoes is the representation of this individualistic expressionism, and the trends of that era.

Inspired by music video "Love&Pride" by 80s band King I loosely copied his usage of neon spray when he 'rebelliously' sprayed directly onto his boots.

I believed that these loosely blended colours helped to further that feeling of frozen in the club, with the different shades representing the lights that would bounce of shoes and sweaty bodies.
